The Haunt Ghost Tour
Did you know that San Francisco was built on graveyards and ghost ships? Or that the largest liquor depository in San Francisco was one of the few places untouched by the great 1906 fire? Our tour guide, Aliya, was a wonderful storyteller with the power to fully immerse you in the tragic histories of San Francisco’s past and then leap into the paranormal hauntings and local ghost stories in each area of the tour. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, the depth the tour guides go into about each of these historical events is not something you want to miss!
The tour kicks off with everyone being armed with an EMF reader, which allows you to pick up electromagnetic spikes around you - an energy, believed by many paranormal buffs, that can be manipulated by spirits! Your tour guide will explain exactly how it works and let you know when to expect large spikes enroute. If you pick up any large unexpected spikes on your EMF reader, let your guide know! If the spike is high enough, you may get to stop and communicate with a spirit or two! At this point in the journey, your tour guide will pull out other pieces of equipment to help communicate with the spirits in the area – it’s so much fun!
This tour is suitable for children (and adults) of all ages (according to their website), however, having experienced the tour ourselves, it is heavily saturated with tragic historical information and possible paranormal encounters that will thrill teens and adults alike, but may spook younger children. That being said, there are no jump scares created by the living during the course of this tour.
Choose from a regular group tour (especially if your party is around 1- 4 people) or a private tour (this is great for larger groups such as birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, large families, etc.) For a regular group tour, the only available time on any given day is at 8:00PM, while there are a handful of time frames to choose from for private tours ranging from 5:00PM - 8:00PM.
Note, this is an evening walking tour in San Francisco. You will want to bundle up even in the summer time and be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. Depending on what time you choose for your tour, you may want to consider dining in the area. The Haunt sends an email confirmation of your purchase, which also states everything you need to know and even suggests some restaurants nearby the tour’s startpoint. We checked out Hinodeya Ramen and highly recommend it!
The Haunt begins its 1.5-1.75 hours journey at the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco. Meet up between the two flagpoles. Be sure to arrive five-ten minutes prior to tour start, as you will need to check in with the tour guide and sign a safety disclaimer waiver. While the tour is definitely safe–you are responsible for looking both ways before crossing streets and keeping track of your children during the tour. The tour’s ONE rule is “No. New. Spirits.”
