Dylan’s Famous Tour With Muir Woods

Muir Woods is one of the most sought after tourist destinations on the planet. With so much popularity comes very little parking space and fast selling tickets. We’re here to let you know, whether you’re visiting SF from overseas or are a local in the area (and Muir Woods is a must-see on your bucket list) your best bet for a famously fabulous Muir Woods visit is purchasing tickets through a tour!

Muir Wood’s Stunning Trees.

Not only is it a good idea to use a tour just to see Muir Woods (and not have to worry about the headache of a parking situation), but also you get to see some of the cooler sights and infamous neighborhoods of SF alongside live commentary. One of the best tours where you get all of this in one is Dylan’s Famous Tour With Muir Woods. And a big plus is you can even tack on visiting the famous Alcatraz prison while you’re at it! It’s a no-brainer.

There are a few different versions of this tour to pick from through Dylan’s Famous Tours website. The one we chose was the 8:00 AM tour, where we also got to stop for idyllic picture snaps at the Palace of Fine Arts, the Presidio, and Fort Point (stellar views of the Golden Gate Bridge, my friends!) Not to mention our tour guide was so much fun, extremely knowledgeable and wildly entertaining throughout the tour.

Every Dylan’s Famous Tour Guide has their special way of commentating about the city. Ours loved to incorporate famous music artists, actors, and directors – where they lived, recorded, and performed all over the city of San Francisco into a trivia game. He handed out chocolates for every correct answer, which made it super fun for kids and adults alike!

We drove through famous spots such as Billionaire’s Row and Mrs. Doubtfire’s house (where they filmed the movie!), as well as the oldest Chinatown in the US, and “Little Italy” (also known as North Beach.) After our adventure through Muir Woods, the tour came to an end with a lunch stop in Sausalito, where us tourists were let loose to shop and eat to our hearts’ content.

Now for some logistical points you should know before booking this tour…

  • Firstly, purchasing a Dylan’s Famous Tour to Muir Woods does not secure your entrance fee to Muir Woods – that is a separate payment that you are responsible for upon arriving at Muir Woods.

  • Secondly, you’re only allotted so much time at each location you stop at (including Muir Woods.) We do not recommend spending your time in the Muir Woods cafe, for example. If you want a cup of coffee, we recommend you do so before you board the tour bus. Muir Woods does not allow paper or plastic products or outside drinks in the woods (if you get coffee in their cafe, it stays in the cafe!)

  • Your tour guide will state the amount of time you have in each location – our advice is to spend it well.

If you are interested in spending more time in Muir Woods to take in the fresh air or hike the longer trails, consider hiring a private car with us at Tailor My Stay!
